No longer a work-in-progress! Instead a shift in my filter.
This no longer an intermediate-term goal, because we saved up to pay cash. Oh, and I got that girl Carol’s approval! There’s that…
I had always wanted a motorcycle, but the closest I ever got was a moped my dad bought. Yep, my Puch had a top speed of 16.5 mph. LOOK OUT! As you’ve no doubt guessed, I was the envy of all the kids in my neighborhood! LOL
Anyway, one of my best buds has a Softail Classic bike and not many others to ride with. Sounds like fun to me. While riding a bike can be dangerous, the risks can be mitigated. But that girl Carol is a nurse, and I know riding can be dangerous.
So here’s what I had had my eye on. It was to be my “starter” bike. It was an Iron 883. What do you think?
The truth is bikes can be dangerous. Even though risk can be mitigated, it can’t account for a kid driving while texting crunching a rider.
So what about a roadster? A roadster is kinda like a motorcycle… Open air going through your hair, er, baldness. Complete with roll bars and side airbags, this 2006 BMW Z4 roadster plays a very close second fiddle to the notion of having a bike. Plus with the roadster, that girl Carol gets to ride along.
After a lot of shopping for cars (gee, I hate that!) I have found a replacement….
Above is our replacement car. Let me know what you think!
UPDATE!! So my best friend (that guy Kevin) hit a deer on his Softail this past summer! (It’s totaled.) Actually, he is lucky to be alive. So is his wife who was riding on the back. After spending about 9 weeks in the hospital (and still doing rehab as of 12/3/22), he is on the mend. Now he is an advocate AGAINST motorcycles. He said that any enjoyment he has had for the last 40+ years is not worth the aftermath he is now experiencing.
I guess that girl Carol (my RN wife) was right all along. Thanks, wifey!
