Another year has passed us by. It’s a time when we take stock of what we’ve done, what we’ve left undone, and what we hope to do better with in 2018. Out with the old in with the new…
My challenge to to myself (and others) is to find one accomplishment from 2017 that can be built upon in 2018.
Building on successes!
Too often people make the same “resolutions” that have been made — and not accomplished — in years past. Weight loss seems to be a popular commitment that people make after the holidays. To foil this, I purposely ate whatever I wanted to on January 1. I’m focusing on fitness.
For me, I will be continuing my fitness achievements from 2017. While I lost 14 pound between August 1 and New Year’s Day, I have realized that this happened as a result of some lifestyle changes, specifically: increasing protein intake, getting Onnit, and doing metabolic resistance training (MRT).
Over the past two months, I have focused less on the scale, and more on increasing intensity… heavier weights, more reps, and less rest. For me, this has been much more fun than following the scale. Besides, my body composition has changed. So while my weight loss has slowed, my lean body mass has continued to increase.
Burn the ships!
That girl Carol and I have signed up at RTG for the next 12 months! No more toe-in-the-water trials. We have burned the proverbial ships by committing to a solid year of MRT. Join us on this journey. Either vicariously on my blog or, better still, by signing up at RTG.
