So my last day of physical therapy was Friday. I got a clean bill of shoulder/elbow flexibility from that guy Mike. Is there even such a thing?
(I had a ruptured distal biceps tendon surgically repaired 14 weeks ago.)
Next stop? I go to see the surgeon’s assistant this Wednesday for final approval to resume normal activities… like pumping iron. Never have I wanted to do something more than when I couldn’t do this. The event has rekindled my desire be fit.
I hope it’ll be green lights in getting back to the weights to re-build my strength. During therapy, I was limited to curling 10 pounds. That’s a far cry from the 60-pound dumbbells I used to swing in my younger days!
But I have a choice…
Do I rejoin the gym? That girl Carol and I are considering the purchase of a treadmill to be able to walk during the winter.
But joining the gym gives access me to treadmills, steppers, bikes, and rowers. And while I have a set of Bowflex dumbbells at home, they max out at 52.5 pounds. So not only would joining the gym give me access to lots of cardio equipment, I would also have heavier weights and lots of machines to do my resistance training.
Plus, it would be great to see the morning regulars again!
What would you do? The treadmill costs $2700. Annual gym membership costs $395.
